Debate on current challenges for the judiciary at the conference “Administration of justice in the perspective of change”

The event, organised by the Extraordinary Review and Public Affairs Chamber of the Supreme Court, focused on the most widely discussed topics comprising the current crisis of the Polish judiciary, including the issues of selecting the composition of the National Council of the Judiciary, as well as the criteria of independence and impartiality of judges.

Constitutional Tribunal once again upholds First President of the Supreme Court’s request for examination of the constitutionality of a normative act

On 27 November 2024, the Constitutional Tribunal found the decree of the Minister of Education of 26 July 2024, which amended the regulation on the conditions and manner of organising religious education in public kindergartens and schools, to be inconsistent with Article 12(2) of the Act of 7 September 1991 on the educational system in conjunction with Article 92(1), in conjunction with Article 25(3), in conjunction with Article 2 and Article 7 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland.

First President of the Supreme Court opposes the amendment to the budget law that discriminates against the administrative employees of the Supreme Court

The First President of the Supreme Court, dr hab. Małgorzata Manowska, draws attention to the discriminatory consequences for administrative employees of the Supreme Court of the amendment to the budget law for 2025, adopted on 21 November 2024 by the Public Finance Committee. Its enactment will result in a substantial decrease in the salaries of the Supreme Court staff, discriminating them against other public administration employees.
